The Soundblaster Z comes boxed with a tiny, high quality "beamforming" microphone array that sits atop your monitor looking inconspicuous, and besides the manual and warranty information, that's your lot. The Z series comes in three increasingly expensive flavours, of which the basic entry model is in our test machine today. If that means little to you (or you own a set of headphones or speakers that might not fit the bill), then it's probably also worth noting that Creative's updated studio software produces a whole load of digital magic that promises to make your audio sparkly no matter what source you throw at it (or device you connect to it). To do so they utilise high-end processing and hardware, including external DACs delivering 127dB signal-to-noise ratio, sockets for swappable Op-Amps, a high-end 80mW into 600 ohm headphone amplifier and 192kHz pass-through. Their new range - the Sound Blaster Z series - are cards that promise “the very best listening experience for movies, games and music” according to the promotional blurb. They’re still here and they still hold value for even a modest desk-based PC setup however, and Creative are flying their pro audio flag with as much gusto as they can manage. Whilst most of us older-generation PC users used to look forward to the new bells and whistles that came along with a sound card refresh every year or so, I’d be hard pushed to identify anybody else that’s given a discreet audio card a second thought for the best part of a decade. In the world of on-board audio processing for motherboards, graphics cards and even headsets, it’s no small wonder that companies like Creative are still attempting to cater to a consumer-grade market.

But even with the market share to back it up, the Wii’s sales have begun to take a significant drop. ![]() Compare that to the Xbox 360’s nearly 45 million units sold, and the PS3’s 40.5 million, and there is no question that the Wii is the console to beat. ![]() The Wii is the clear king of the current generation of consoles, with over 75 million units sold. So it makes sense for Nintendo to attempt to bring it back, especially now. It wasn’t Mario, Donkey Kong was nowhere to be found, and yet GoldenEye 007 became the game that defined the Nintendo 64. The Recovery Version of the Bible is translated from the original languages according to principles and standards of translation established by major English translations of the last five centuries. Since then many excellent English translations have followed. Around 1525 the Bible was translated into English directly from the original languages by William Tyndale. This translation and its subsequent distribution was instrumental in opening the door to the spread of the truth. In 1385 John Wycliffe translated the Bible into English from the Latin Vulgate. The latest draft sent by management would certainly act as another thorn in the government's side if the students can agree a finalised statement before the fees debate begins in earnest in a few hours. ![]() Last night this seemed to be up in the air as students wanted to press for both anti-fees and anti arts cuts statements, whereas management were naturally reluctant to condemn fee increases. So if the students behave badly, then the two named defendants, Sarah Crane-Brewer and Frank Harris both aged 19, could be billed for up to £40,000.Īt the moment, the only sticking issue is the wording of a joint statement condemning university cuts. That's the deadline for the university to return to the court. Quite cleverly Judge Faber, sitting at London County Court decided to defer the issue of costs until the 23 December. It is possible that occupation could relocate to another part of the campus and the whole process of eviction would have to start again but this is unlikely as students are worried about the issue of costs. However, the students successfully defended a claim for possession over the entirety of UCL's Gower Street campus. The students who began their occupation two weeks ago could face eviction at any moment from the 200 capacity Jeremy Bentham Room and the Slade art college. Occupying students at UCL are still in last minute negotiations with their chancellor's office after a court awarded management a possession order today. Play around with different typography styles like the ones in the screenshot below to create balance and guide a viewer’s eye across your sign. For example, a lightweight script font can connote elegance and sophistication, whereas bold block lettering can signify urgency and importance. Typography font, size, and formatting are also important considerations. If you have a lot of information to include, consider putting it on a web page and creating a QR code or shortened URL that someone can access from a mobile device. You should use enough text to get your message across, but not too much that it clutters the sign. However, sometimes text is needed to provide context or clarification. You don’t necessarily need to include typography in your sign if your goal can be accomplished by using symbols like arrows, emojis, or icons. You can still have a successful design without color if you use these elements strategically. ![]() In this case, pay careful attention to the other elements of your design: shapes, space, lines, and typography. Black and white print jobs are usually less expensive than printing in full color, so color might not be an option if you’re trying to stretch your budget. Ultimately, printing costs may be the biggest consideration when using color in your signage. The top row of light shades in the screenshot below would provide a good contrast with the shades on the bottom row, for example. The easiest way to find this balance is to pick colors from different rows in Microsoft Word’s color selection menu. For the best results, use a color palette that has a balance of bright and dark colors and creates visual interest. If you use several colors with the same tone, your sign will lack the “pop” factor that grabs someone’s attention. Similarly, contrast can be a big factor in whether your sign sticks out. For example, green signifies health, nature, and affluence, but it isn’t as eye-catching as red or yellow hues. Color psychology-how the human brain responds to certain colors-can help guide you if you’re not sure what colors to use in your signage. ColorĪs with most design materials, color plays a major role in the effectiveness of what you create. To switch to landscape orientation, navigate to the Layout tab on the ribbon toolbar, then select Landscape from the dropdown menu under Orientation. New documents in Microsoft Word are set to portrait orientation by default. Certificates, yard signs, and maps typically use landscape orientation. Landscape orientation is ideal for signs that have minimal text but are intended to grab someone’s attention. Portrait orientation is best for signage with a lot of information, like flyers, posters, and infographics. If you choose to start with a blank document, the first thing to consider is page orientation. ![]() These templates usually have more intricate or modern designs than the ones Microsoft offers, so might have an easier time finding one that matches your design taste. There are also third-party websites that create templates you can download and add to your Word template library. Instead of creating something from scratch, use a template as a starting point to create a customized sign without spending a ton of time on formatting. ![]() You can find pre-made examples of signs, flyers, brochures, and other marketing materials in the Word template library. One of the easiest ways to make a sign in Microsoft Word is to use one of the included templates. Instead, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind that will help you make your sign as successful as possible. How to make signs in Wordīecause there’s such a wide variety of possibilities, there isn’t a step-by-step guide that can encompass every type of sign you might need to create. The best part? With Microsoft Word, you don’t have to be an expert graphic designer to create a professional-looking sign. You can create signs that range from basic to intricate depending on your goals and needs. ![]() ![]() The Toy Box always has something for players to do on a whim, encouraging kids and adults alike to just, well, play. ![]() Additionally, players also get the ability to do a host of other fun things like go on races, do trick courses with toy cars, or even just enlarge and shrink things in the world with piles of goo. Kids, or people who just don't care about doing quests, can spend time decorating and customizing their town or citizens – right down to where they want buildings to be. More Toy Story 3: The Video Game News & Previews But while Toy Box can be a really guided experience if that's how you want to play it, what I appreciate is how it really tries to put something in there for everyone. And even when the quests were far too easy I still found myself becoming addicted, as TS3's quest lines are structured in such a way that you'll finish one only to open up several more, making it easy to get into that "just one more" mentality. Each new mechanic, instead of being told through a standard tutorial, is introduced in a quirky quest, making learning a whole lot more fun than usual. The quests in Toy Box are a little simple for most adults (though still fun), but what they're really good at is introducing the various ways you can interact with the world. The result is a mode that still has all the familiar faces that you'd expect from the film franchise, but that introduces a host of gameplay elements that fall well outside what a simple follow-the-film game would allow. And since it doesn't follow the movie's plot, the entire world is based around the idea of how the toys perceive their environment when they're being played with. It's essentially an open world quest-driven game where you play as the Sheriff of a toy town, using Woody, Buzz, or Jessie. More Toy Story 3: The Video Game News & Previews The story mode is still fun and worthwhile, but Toy Box is really the selling point for the game. Instead TS3 has both a decent, story-driven game that touches upon some highlights from the film, as well as an inventive open world game called Toy Box mode. Movie tie-ins have a reputation for being awful, but developer Avalanche Software has found a good way to use the Toy Story name without just creating another rehash of the movie's plot. Back then I hardly had any good cooperative games to play with my siblings, and playing games with my parents usually amounted to me taking it easy on them so they wouldn't quit.īut what makes Toy Story 3 even more special than its fun cooperative story is that it actually makes creative use of its license. I wish I'd had the Toy Story 3 game when I was a kid.
